The PTA is starting its 7th year of bringing art into every classroom at Briarcrest, from Kindergarten to 6th grade. This year we are planning on doing four projects.

We are always looking for new volunteers and/or assistants. No art abilities required and you do not have to create any projects, you just need to want to help bring more art into our kids lives.

Foreign Language for Youth is offering language classes at Briarcrest Elementary to students in grades 1-6. Classes begin the second and third week of October and continue until Spring with 20 lessons following the school calendar. Courses in Spanish, French, and Mandarin are taught through immersion around games, songs, action, and drama!

Get them started early! This class for 1st and 2nd graders features a mixture of specialized activities and  material from our Classic beginner’s curriculum, adapted for younger coders. Students will learn what  programming is, then practice it for themselves in a variety of creative exercises based around fundamental  coding, animation, and game design concepts.    At the end of class, every student will get to present something they worked on for their friends, family, and  classmates. Coders with project ideas of their own are welcome and will receive guidance and support from  our teachers in making their dreams come alive!

Teaching students the joy of coding by helping them make their own customized computer games and animations. The curriculum is fun yet substantive and comprehensive. Students will strengthen logic and thinking skills, build confidence, and determination as they practice trial and error problem solving.

Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft.

Create our natural world using LEGO®! Deserts, forests, oceans and cityscapes; examine how our world moves, while exploring the energy sources that make it possible. A great introduction to core concepts of environmental engineering for students.
